Health Hack by AstraZeneca is a set of Balkan hackathons spread out through four Balkan countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Serbia&Montenegro. The competition invites students of Pharmacy and Medicine to apply their skills, creativity, and passion to think of creative solutions in real-life medical related challenges. Over the course of two days, you will work in teams to brainstorm, prototype, and pitch innovative solutions to a specific healthcare problem.

The Health Hack in Slovenia wrapped up successfully with two winners emerging. Chosen by the jury, the winners are members of the Solidago virgaurea group (Meta Furlan, Gaja Pušnik, Tinkara Žula, Tjaša Škerl Rifelj and Vesna Slatinek), while according to the audience's choice, the winners hail from the Klirtim group (Amadej Šenk, Mark Muravec, Justin Okai, Liza Habjan and Pia Uršič).
In sunny Belgrade, two days of innovative thinking, hard work, and brainstorming produced winners of the Health Hack competition! There were two challenges, and jury members choose one winning team per challenge. For the Breast cancer challenge, the winning team was Sentinel - Luka Milićević, Nikolina Aničić, Lenka Ilinkić and Milica Bošnjak. As for the Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease challenge, the winning team was FarmaFenomeni - Nikola Milosavljević, Petar Taslaković, Filip Jovčić and Đorđe Milojković. All of the teams showed incredible creativity, dedication, and understanding of the needs of patients in Serbia, as well as excellent presentation skills!
The eHealthExplorers team in Bulgaria, consisting of Konstantin Kanev, Dimitar Kanev, and Dobrin Kolarov, won in the Breast Cancer challenge category with their creation of a centralized digital healthcare portal. Their platform integrates a specialist hub, patient module, and AI-driven telemedicine tools to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration and improve the tracking and treatment of breast cancer patients.
In the CKD challenge category, the Innovative Healers team, comprising Velislava Kazakova, Hristina Tomova, Gergana Borisova, and Dimana Stefanova, was recognized for their comprehensive strategy aimed at raising awareness about chronic kidney disease. Their approach includes consultations with general practitioners, a dedicated app, and a targeted awareness campaign in healthcare centers, focusing on at-risk groups.
